13 Nov Congratulations to Pickett’s Dr. Pande-Chhetri on His Recently Published Article in the European Journal of Remote Sensing

Pickett’s very own Roshan Pande-Chhetri recently had an article published in the European Journal of Remote Sensing called “Object-Based Classification of Wetland Vegetation Using Very High-Resolution Unmanned Air System Imagery”.

Roshan holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Geomatics from the University of Florida and serves as Pickett’s Geomatics Engineer. He began his career in the Geospatial field in 1997 working in both private and public sectors.  Dr. Pande-Chhetri has expertise in Remote Sensing, LiDAR technology, GIS, Photogrammetry, GPS and Mobile mapping. He is also proficient with the related software packages including CAD applications (AutoCAD, Microstation, PLSCADD), GIS/Remote sensing (ArcGIS, ENVI, ERDAS Imagine), GPS (Applanix), LiDAR (Optech LiDAR Mapping Suite, MARS, Reigl, Terrasolid), Photogrammetry/aerial mapping (VR, Pix4D, Agisoft). He has also been an active member of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) since 2009.

Dr. Pande-Chhetri’s article examines the use of multi-resolution object-based classification methods for the classification of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) images of wetland vegetation and compares its performance with pixel-based classification approaches. Remote sensing is often used to monitor changes in land cover, however traditional piloted image capturing missions can be costly and logistically difficult.

Pickett’s UAS services fill the need for inexpensive, up-to-date imagery of our clients’ projects as we leverage decades of experience in aerial imaging and mapping. UAS is the obvious next-generation solution for mapping and inspecting natural areas, property and infrastructure. Over the last 20 years, we have been running airborne operations and building an outstanding reputation in the aerial mapping field. In 2015, Pickett received an FAA Section 333 exemption, and currently complies with FAA Part 107 regulations, to provide UAS services commercially. Our Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are FAA approved and have been integrated into our business in accordance with current regulations

Pickett’s UAS offerings include video inspection, wetland and invasive species monitoring, documentation of utilities, construction sites, farmland, site imaging for insurance purposes, or for topographic mapping and/or area computations. Our drones are specifically suited for focused or overall site video and image acquisition.

Dr. Pande-Chhetri’s publication can be found here. To learn more about Pickett’s UAS services and how they can fill your unique needs, email us at info@PickettUSA.com. We look forward to hearing from you!
